Vampire Knight Volume 14

Kaname doesn't deserve Yuki.  She's so much more devoted to him than he is to her.  Of course, Yuki doesn't deserve Yuki either.  For a love triangle it's messed up.  Interesting to see more of the history of this vampire world.  My sympathies are still with Aido.  He's just trying to protect Kaname and those he loves.

Vampire Knight Volume 13

There's more backstory in this one than there has been for awhile. Kaname comes off a bit less creepy. He's not Yuki's brother! But Zero does. I don't like vampire Yuki either. Aido's starting to seem the most stable.

Vampire Knight Volume 11

I like Zero a lot more than the Yuki and Kaname.  I'm actually sort of rooting for him to find someone like Yuki's best friend Wakaba.  Yuki's just not worth it now, there's something wrong with her, and it's not because she's a vampire.

Vampire Knight Volume 10

Hmmm... There's still a bit of a battle going on in this volume but the majority is back story to explain what's going on. It was kind of needed at this point. Unfortunately, Hino seems to be trying to set up a love triangle between Rukia, Kaname and Kain. Since Kaname is already in a love triangle with Yuki and Zero I don't think this one works. Plus I like Kain and am sorry that he's ultimately going to be disappointed. Unless he and Zero team up...

Vampire Knight Volume 9

Kaname's a dick. Yeah, yeah, vampire war and trying to be on top and all but still. Dick.

Vampire Knight Volume 8

This one is something of a long flash back about Yuki's past. I'm not sure how I feel about the direction of the story. I enjoyed the series before this was revealed and this takes it in a very different direction.

Vampire Knight Volume 7

This is where Vampire Knight starts to go in a direction I would never have suspected. Up to this point I was expecting a fairly mundane love triangle and teen angst typical of a romance series. Instead... It's nice to be surprised.

Vampire Knight Volume 6

This one moved the story forward in so many ways. Kaname's still creepy but there's the feeling that he has a lot of balls in the air. Yuki's past is about to be revealed! It's feeling like whatever happened to her when she was small is a bit of linchpin to the story that Hino is trying to tell.

Vampire Knight Volume 5

Kaname's such a dick. On many, many levels.

I really liked the final panels of the exchange between Zero and Yuki. I found it very romantic.

I do feel a little sorry for Aido. I think he's in much further over his head than he expects.

Vampire Knight Volume 4

I don't trust Kaname. Nope, don't trust him at all. I'm firmly in "Camp Zero".

Vampire Knight Volume 3

So this one is more about the vampire society than about Cross Academy. (And Hino doesn't feel the need to remind you every few pages that the Day Class is human and the Night Class vampire). There's also a fair bit about vampire hunters in here too which was neat.

Vampire Knight Volume 2

Yuki's supposed to be cool right? I mean, she's leaping off buildings and standing up to vampires on school grounds but then when she's actually confronted it's up to Kaname or Zero to save her. I hope that Hino decides where she'd like her heroine to fall before too long. It's hard to like a character that comes across so helpless when she's not supposed to be.

There's a couple of scenes in this one that were a little... well, creepy. Kaname's possession of Yuki when she and Zero visit the Moon Dormitory and the scene between Zero and Yuki where she offers to help him. Both illustrate the relationship that Yuki has with these two characters and both show what she is willing to give of herself.

This one gets a 3.

Vampire Knight Volume 1

So I've been reading Bleach and Naruto. My husband has been trying to get me to read Vampire Knight. It's not at all what I expected. It's a bit more... girly?

I did enjoy the first volume though. I'm not fond of the repetition of the set up. Yes, it's a private academy where the Day Class needs to be separated from the Night Class. Yes, the Night Class is made up of vampires and it's Yuki's job to keep their secret. After the first couple of times I got the concept.

The art is amazingly detailed, although I do find it hard to tell some of the characters apart. Some of the guys look all the same in their beauty. I like Zero, I hope he "wins" and I feel for Kain, no one should have to put up with Aido.

I'll give it a 5.
